Ponca City Public Schools Thankful for Great Season
    and Community Support

The Ponca City Wildcat Football season came to an end Friday night, November 8, 2019. The Wildcats finished the season with a 5-5 record and narrowly missing the state playoffs due to overall point rankings in the district. The Cats have made steady improvement under Head Football Coach Scott Harmon and his staff, and they have been very dedicated to making progress.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Thank you to the team, parents, coaches, teachers, sponsors, band, cheerleaders, hi-steppers, color guard, and patrons for giving their all to make this season great. Thank you to the fans for filling the stands to support all of our students performing. Thank you to the people of Ponca City for supporting bond issues allowing us to provide facilities that demonstrate to our students they are highly valued and worthy of high-quality facilities in which to excel academically and in their extra-curricular activities. Wildcat Pride and Spirit are on the rise, and we are excited about what the future has to offer! #thecatsareback  #wildcatway  #pcpsproud  #onedistrictonecommunityoneteam.”

Ponca City Public School District Information

  • The Ponca City School District is the 20th largest district in Oklahoma, with over 5,000 students attending 11 fully accredited schools. Our schools attract the finest teachers because of the district's commitment to excellence in education, one of the highest salary schedules in the state, and our facilities.

The district is known as a leader in the state, if not the nation, for the professional development provided to the employees. The district takes pride in having 13 Nationally Board Certified teachers and 28% of teachers with advanced degrees. Ponca City's ACT scores are continually above state and national averages. Ensuring the success of each individual student is the district's primary responsibility, resulting in the district being a leader in the development and implementation of full-day early childhood programs, after school tutoring, mentoring, summer school and alternative school programs.

In addition to strong academic programs, students have many opportunities to participate in fine arts, athletics and leadership programs, encouraging personal and social development beyond the classroom. Ponca City School District's relationship with the community sets it apart from other districts. Over the past 10 years, citizens have passed over $85 million in bond issues. Our citizens are proud of our schools and are committed to making sure that our students have what they need for the 21st century.
