Ponca City, OK — November 17, 2025 — Ponca City High School proudly announces that senior Sydney Meeker has been selected as a Soprano 2 for the 2025 Oklahoma All-State Mixed Choir. This achievement recognizes Sydney’s exceptional talent, dedication, and musical excellence.

The rigorous audition process for the Oklahoma All-State Mixed Choir took place in two rounds this fall, beginning with regional auditions across the state and culminating in final selections at the University of Central Oklahoma. Students prepare three advanced choral works selected by the Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OkMEA) and perform challenging excerpts for a blind panel. The process is intensely competitive, with only the top 25 scorers in each part earning a place in the All-State Mixed Choir.

This year’s All-State Mixed Choir will be conducted by Jake Runestad, a renowned EMMY®-winning and GRAMMY®-nominated composer and conductor. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Runestad is celebrated for his moving and transformative choral, orchestral, and wind ensemble works. His music is performed worldwide, and he frequently leads ensembles as a guest conductor, admired for his expressivity and commitment to community-building through music. Runestad’s career includes commissions from top-tier choirs and orchestras, reflecting both artistry and his advocacy for music’s positive impact.

The All-State Festival will be held in Tulsa, culminating in a performance on January 24th at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
