The Ponca City Wildcats Special Olympics team has officially begun practice in preparation for the 2026 Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games season. Athletes are training and preparing to compete in a variety of events that highlight teamwork, determination, and athletic achievement.

This year, Ponca City Wildcats athletes will compete in track and field, cornhole, bocce ball, and Young Athletes events. Practices are underway as athletes build skills and prepare for upcoming area competitions.

Bocce ball athletes will begin their competitive season at the Area Games on March 31 in Stillwater, where they will compete for the opportunity to advance to the state competition.

Cornhole athletes will compete at their Area Games on April 7 in Stillwater, while track and field athletes will compete at the Area Track Meet on April 11 at Frontier School.

Athletes who qualify at the area competitions will advance to the Special Olympics Oklahoma State Summer Games, which will take place May 13–15 on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. The State Games bring together athletes from across Oklahoma for several days of competition, celebration, and recognition of their achievements.

The Ponca City Wildcats Special Olympics program provides students with opportunities to develop athletic skills, build confidence, and experience the excitement of competition while representing their school and community.

Community members are encouraged to support and cheer on the Wildcats athletes as they compete throughout the season.
