Chandler Monks and Amy Swartz

Chandler Monks, a student at West Middle School, challenged friends, family, and community members to get moving and make a difference for the Wildcat Special Olympics team through Chandler’s 58 Mile Challenge!

Throughout July, participants worked toward 58 miles of movement—walking, biking, swimming, or simply getting active. Those who completed the challenge could purchase a special completion T-shirt, with 100% of the profits donated to Wildcat Special Olympics.

And the community showed up! 🎉

At the conclusion of the challenge, Chandler presented the $300 donation to Amy Swartz, PCPS Director of Special Education Services, to support Wildcat Special Olympics athletes.

“Chandler and our family wanted to create something that would encourage people to get moving, bring our community together, promote inclusion, and support our amazing Special Olympics athletes,” said Chandler’s mom, Heather Monks.

What started as one student’s idea became a community-wide effort to promote movement, inclusion, and support for local athletes.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the challenge, and thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference!

Together, we moved for a cause and made an impact!
