In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ponca City High School DECA students are showing support for members of the Po-Hi family by gifting specially designed breast cancer awareness shirts to teachers and staff who are breast cancer survivors or are currently battling the disease.
The shirts feature a vibrant pink design celebrating strength, hope, and perseverance. They were created and printed by The Press Room, Po-Hi DECA’s student-run printing business. Through this project, students found a meaningful way to recognize the courage of their teachers and staff while reminding them that they are supported by their Wildcat family.
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is about more than wearing pink. It’s about recognizing the strength of those who have fought or are still fighting this disease,” said DECA advisor Heather Monks. “We wanted our teachers and staff to know they are loved, appreciated, and supported by their Wildcat family.”
The Press Room: Where Student Creativity Meets Real-World Business
The Press Room is a student-run printing business operated through the Ponca City High School DECA program. Students gain hands-on experience in marketing, graphic design, customer service, production, and entrepreneurship while creating customized merchandise for the school and community.
From T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats to bags and other personalized products, The Press Room helps bring creative ideas to life. Projects like the breast cancer awareness shirts also teach students that business is about more than creating products. It is an opportunity to build relationships, serve others, and make a positive impact in the community.
Through The Press Room, Po-Hi DECA combines career readiness with community service, giving students real-world business experience while celebrating and supporting the people who make Ponca City High School special.
