In celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, Ponca City High School proudly welcomed community leaders, business partners, and stakeholders for an inside look at the innovative Career Tech programs shaping the future workforce of our community.
Visitors received valuable information about the wide range of Career and Technical Education opportunities available to students at Ponca City Schools. Career Tech Department Chair, Heather Monks, highlighted how CTE programs equip students with real-world skills, industry certifications, and hands-on experiences that prepare them for both college and career success.
During the visit, guests learned about the critical funding sources that support these programs, including state and federal grants that allow Ponca City Schools to provide cutting-edge technology and industry-relevant curriculum. CTE teachers explained how these funds are strategically used to enhance academic proficiency, strengthen workforce readiness, and expand student opportunities.
Community leaders toured classrooms and labs where students demonstrated new technologies currently being integrated into instruction. From interactive learning tools to career-specific equipment, visitors experienced firsthand how students are applying technical skills in authentic, engaging learning environments. Several guests even participated in hands-on demonstrations led by students and teachers.
“Career and Technical Education bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world application,” said Heather Monks. “We are proud to showcase how our programs empower students to explore career pathways, earn certifications, and graduate with a competitive advantage.”
CTE Month, celebrated nationally each February, recognizes the value and impact of Career and Technical Education across the nation. Ponca City High School remains committed to providing high-quality programs that meet workforce demands and support student success.
Ponca City Schools extends sincere appreciation to the community leaders who took time to visit, learn, and support the continued growth of Career Tech education.
