Ponca City High School, in partnership with the Ponca City Development Authority, is excited to announce the upcoming Senior Career Day. This event is designed to give students valuable exposure to career pathways and help them build important professional skills.
Event Details
Date: April 15, 2026
Time: 8:00 AM – 1:45 PM
Location: City Central
Senior Career Day will provide seniors with opportunities to explore different career interests and develop workforce readiness skills. During the morning, students will choose between participating in industry tours around Ponca City or attending on-site professional development sessions.
Students who select industry tours will choose their preferred career cluster through a Google Form. Those who remain on-site will take part in sessions focused on career readiness and personal growth. All students will come together for a shared afternoon program.
Afternoon Program
The afternoon will include a catered lunch, where students will have the opportunity to connect with local business and industry leaders. After lunch, students will hear from guest speakers and participate in mock interviews to further develop their professional skills.
Industry Tour Options
Students participating in tours may choose from the following career clusters:
STEM/Engineering
Trades/Manufacturing
Education/Business
Retail/Food Services
Professional Learning Sessions
Students attending on-site sessions will engage in topics such as:
Personal finance and budgeting
High-demand careers in Oklahoma
Mental wellness and stress management
Artificial intelligence
Building a professional online presence
Attendance
Attendance is required for all seniors. Students participating in internships, Pioneer Tech, or concurrent enrollment courses should attend those commitments as scheduled and report to City Central immediately before and afterward.
Incentives
Students who attend Career Day will be exempt from end-of-year final exams and will also have the opportunity to win prizes, including scholarships.
Transportation
Students who ride the bus will be transported to and from City Central. Students who drive or are dropped off should report directly to City Central by 8:00 AM.
Students who need transportation home will be taken back to the high school and may wait in the commons until 3:10 PM for their shuttle or bus route.
End of Day Procedures
The event will conclude at 1:45 PM. Seniors who do not need to remain on campus will complete the remainder of their day virtually by finishing a required reflection survey at home.
