DECA Officers at the Oklahoma Fall Leadership Conference

Ponca City High School DECA officers recently attended the Oklahoma DECA Fall Leadership Conference, joining DECA members from across the state for an opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills, network with other student leaders, and prepare for an exciting year of DECA activities.

Representing Ponca City DECA were Co-Presidents, Kyler Cox and Bella Morrison; Vice President of Record Keeping, Gracie George; Vice President of Social Activities, Harper Clark; Vice President of Social Media, KJ Johnson; and Vice President of Finance, Mallory George.

Throughout the conference, the officers participated in leadership sessions and activities focused on communication. teamwork, professionalism, and chapter development. They also had the opportunity to connect with other DECA members from across Oklahoma, exchange ideas, and learn new ways to engage members and strengthen their local chapter.

In addition to attending the Fall Leadership Conference, the Ponca City DECA officers participated in a day of team-building and bonding activities. The experience gave the students an opportunity to strengthen relationships, build trust, practice working together as a leadership team, and create memories outside of the classroom.

"Having a strong officer team sets the tone for our entire DECA chapter," said Ponca City DECA Advisor, Heather Monks. "The Fall Leadership Conference gave our officers an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and bring new ideas back to Ponca City. The team-building activities also helped them grow closer as a group and learn how to work together toward our goals for the year."

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Through classroom instruction, leadership development, competitive events, community involvement, and real-world experiences, students develop skills that prepare them for success in college and careers.

Ponca City DECA looks forward to putting the officers' new leadership skills into action as the chapter continues a year filled with competition, service, professional development, and opportunities for students to grow as leaders.
